These terms apply when you use Markets, run by Markets. By opening an account you agree to them.

1. Who can use Markets

  • You must be 18 or older.
  • You may have one account, in your own name, with your own phone number.
  • The details you give us must be true. We may ask you to prove who you are.

2. Your account

  • Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what is done with your account.
  • Tell us at once if you think someone else has used it.

3. Markets and orders

  • Prices come from a live exchange and change all the time. The price you get is the one matched when your order reaches the exchange, within the limit shown to you.
  • An order that is matched cannot be undone. An order still waiting can be canceled.
  • We may stop trading in a market, or on Markets, at any time, for example when a market is about to end or a price feed is down.

4. Results and payouts

  • Each market is decided by its own rules. Our oracle confirms the result.
  • If your answer wins, each share pays out to your balance when the result is confirmed. If it loses, the shares are worth nothing.
  • If a market ends without a clear winner, we settle it by hand, following the exchange.

5. Money

  • Your balance is in KES. You pay in and take out money with M-Pesa, to the number on your account.
  • Fees are shown before you confirm an order. The amount you see on the button already has them taken out.
  • We may hold a withdrawal while we check it, as the law requires.

6. What you may not do

  • Use Markets for someone else, or let someone else use your account.
  • Trade on a result you can control or already know from inside information.
  • Use software to overload or attack Markets, or try to get around its limits.
  • Use money that is not yours, or that comes from crime.

If you do, we may close your account and hold its balance while we look into it.

7. Risk

You can lose all the money you put into a market. Nothing on Markets is advice. Only use money you can afford to lose. See Responsible play.

8. Our liability

We work to keep Markets running and your money safe. We are not liable for losses from market moves, from the exchange or our oracle, or from events outside our control, as far as the law allows.

9. Changes

We may change these terms. We will show the new date at the top of this page and tell you in the app before big changes apply.

10. Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Kenya.
