This page says what Markets collects when you use Markets, why, and what you can ask us to do with it. We follow the Data Protection Act, 2019 of Kenya.
What we collect
- Your account: your name and phone number. Your password is stored only in a form that cannot be read back.
- Your money: your balance, orders, positions, payouts, and your M-Pesa payments to and from us.
- Technical data: your IP address and device details when you sign in, to keep your account safe.
Why we use it
- To run your account, carry out your orders and pay you.
- To stop fraud and misuse.
- To meet the law, such as record keeping and checks on where money comes from.
Who we share it with
- M-Pesa, to send and receive your payments.
- Authorities, when the law requires it.
We do not sell your data. Your orders reach the exchange under our name, not yours.
Cookies
We use no advertising or tracking cookies. Your browser keeps a sign-in key so you stay signed in, and removes it when you sign out.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while you have an account. Records of money are kept for as long as the law requires, then deleted.
Your rights
You can ask to see your data, correct it, or delete it. You can also object to how we use it. Some records we must keep by law. To ask, contact us below. You can also complain to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner.
