Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi has claimed President Uhuru Kenyatta is scheming to sponsor coastal leaders to form their own regional party ahead of the 2022 General Election.
In a statement issued on his Facebook page on Wednesday, March 24, Hon Sudi said the president is keen on using divide and rule tactics in his quest to remain relevant by empowering ‘tribal chiefs’.
“I have always been telling Kenyans of Uhuru Kenyatta’s dirty political tricks. He now wants to sponsor Coast leaders into having their own regional party. Despite Governor Mvurya’s different political ideology from that of Joho and Kingi, Uhuru still want him to be part of formation of a village party. He has done the same in Western Kenya and even Eastern. He wants to employ divide and rule tactics in his quest to remain relevant by empowering tribal chiefs. This guy has looted everything else just to sponsor tribal politics in the name of uniting the country. He is shocked that Kenya’s political conversation has changed to tribeless one but he is so desperate to a level he now wants to drag us back there.”
His statement came after the president, who is also the Jubilee party leader, held a meeting with governors Hassan Joho (Mombasa), Amason Kingi (Kilifi) and Salim Mvurya (Kwale) at State House, Mombasa. Although the thre governors shared photos of their meeting with the commander-in-chief of the armed forces, they did not divulge details but stated they had a productive consultation with the head of state.
